    this auction is for a
    Great Britain
    1873 .925 silver florin (two shillings) one tenth of a pound that derives the ‘florin’ name from a coin issued by the City of Florence, Italy.
    Known as a Gothic Type Florin its date (1873) appears on its obverse with Roman numerals (mdccclxxiii) in Gothic type surrounding the image of an aging Queen Victoria while the reverse shows heraldic devices. Condition is shown in the images along with three light ink (or pencil) lines that appear over the Queen’s neck and shoulder. (SEE IMAGES – digital photos of the front/back of the coin).
