    Description

***JULY 4TH HOLIDAY SALE****.00 OFF ALREADY DISCOUNTED PRICE****This is the front page of the Field Post Newspaper (Wacht Am Kanal) distributed to front line German Panzer troops and the German Third Reich Armed Forces.  This was not a city newspaper but written for and published for the German Armed Forces during WWII and read by the soldiers and officers at field posts, headquarters and on the battlefield.  This front page edition's articles discuss the War at the Eastern Front, particularly the Drive on Stalingrad and toward Moscow.  Paper is in good condition relative to being carried on the battlefield.  (In 40 years of collecting, I've not seen another on the market.  I am sure there are some out there but most likely in private collections and exhibits).  It is not surprising that most of these newspapers carried on the battlefield and at field posts did not survive when the men carrying them were killed on the battlefield or captured and sent to the Russian prisons.  In any regard, a rare and historic find.  (I acquired this newspaper in an estate sale from a German family in 1991).  The newspaper could be framed and would look great in an office, den (if the wife will let you) or in a hobby area of the house.  Estimated Market Value = 5-300.
